My name is Lydia. I was born in Thyatira but I moved to the city of Philippi which is in Rome. I am a Hebrew woman who believes in God.

I sell purple dye. Did you know that we have to take this dye from glands in fish? Only a small amount can be taken from one fish. This makes cloth dyed purple very expensive and so only kings, queens and very rich people can afford to wear purple clothes. I like purple and I am sure some of you like that color, too. Don't you?

One day, some of my friends and I were down by the river and this wonderful man named Paul and his friend, timothy, came down and began to tell us about Jesus and what glorious things he had done for all of us. He told us about his miracles and how he had been crucified for all of us so that we can go to heaven someday and be with him forever.

When he had finished talking about Jesus my heart was so filled with joy and love that I asked the apostle Paul if I and all of my family could be baptized and so we confessed that Jesus was lord and we were all baptized and became children of god.

There are no holiday inns or McDonalds so people stay and eat in the homes of kind people.

I begged Paul and timothy to come and stay in my home if they thought.

That I was faithful to God. And so they did!!!!!

Wasn't it an honor to have such great men of God in my home????

When you grow up and have homes of your own, .remember.... To always be kind and generous with what you have been given from god!!
